Driving in the U.S

Today I could sleep as long as I wanted to, and it was so nice! I must have slept for about 12 hours. I raised up and Steph asked me if I wanted to have pancakes for breakfast, the children usually gets those during the weekends. I said sure, I can try them.

Chocolatepancakes with sirap, tasted nice! :) But I hope I won't eat them that often ;)

After breakfast we went down by the pool, it was so hot outside today, 38 degrees. Me and the children played in the pool and had a great time there. It was so nice to be in the water which didn't even feel cold. Larry wanted to take me on a drive with my car to see how I was driving and so on, also to show me the children's school, the mall, the college, trainstation, and the gym. It wasn't that hard as I thougt it would be driving in the U.S :) The hardest  thing will be to find my way and not get lost around here, but I've got a GPS in the car so hopefully I won't.

When we got home from the drive all of us were tired so I think allmost everybody took a nap. That was great. I took my book and lay down by the pool for a while.  They wanted to take me out for dinner today, so we went from home about 5.30. We went to an amazing japanese restaurant where they cooked what you have ordered right in front of you. It was so cool! The food was great and kids seemed to enjoy it. When we got out of there  they took a picture of all of us together, it will be fun to have in the future. The children wanted to see a movie so we went there after the dinner. The Smurfs actually was a funny movie, haha :) The girl sat in my knee all the time, allmost, cute :)

Now I'm home again and tomorrow they are taking me to Phillies game, a baseballgame in Philadelphia. It will be fun! We'll go from home quite early, cause of the traffic, and probably be gone for allmost the whole day. I just don't know what to say, cause they are being so nice to me and I allready feels like one in the family sp that's great!

First day with my hostfamily

Yes, now I have settled down and unpacked my bags and made the room to mine! :) Now I only need some pictures to put on the walls so I can see my family from home all the time. Miss them a little bit but that's just normal.

The kids are cute and they try to make me feel good in a new place. When we(me and my hostdad) took them of the bus we went inside and began playing a little bit. He had a soccertraining and I watched my hostmum when she helped the girl shower. We were all tired I guess, but pasta for dinner was nice! Me and the girl played a lot on the floor and then my hostdad came home again after picking up the boy from soccer. He brought icecream, that was nice in this heat! God bless aircondition! The kids wanted to teach me how to play wii, but I allready knew how to do so we could get started and play right away, it is so funny playing these games. I was playing the guitar and the boy said I was great, so I hope so :)

Now I am just going to sleep with all my six!! pillows cause tomorrrow is another day. My hostmum told me to sleep as long as I wanted to, and how I've been longing for that! :) The family is so kind with me and they wants me to feel at home, I feel welcome :)

Third and fourth day of orientation (arrival)

All the days there were a lot of information, the bells rang at 7 am and then we had breakfast and went to a new meeting.
On wednesday evening we went to New York city on a tour. To the top of the rock and the statue of liberty, Fifth avenue; well all the things you want to see in New York! It was so fun!

Ellinore and Frida on the tourbus.

Me and Ellinore at the top of the rock.

The view from the top of the rock were amazing!
You could see a big part of New York city.

At thursday morning I woke up and was soo nervous! At the night I was going to sleep in MY bed for the first time and meet the family for the first time. But first there were one more meeting with the other AuPairs. When the clock was five p.m we got on the train towards our different destinations. When I got of the train in Philadelphia and walked towards the people, my hostmum came towards me and gave me a hug. It felt so much better. All of a sudden I sat in the car heading to the house, like 40 minutes drive from the trainstation in Philly. When we got there the children ran out of the house and welcomed me with open arms.

I got something to eat and then they showed me my room and the bathroom. On my bad was a little bag with different gifts.

A scarf of the  Philadelphia Union, the male soccerteam i Phildelphia
Candy called Swedish fish
A giftcard of 25 dollars on a store where I can buy like everything
A photoalbum
A card from their previous Au Pair
The Au pair cellphone

They are being so nice to me :) The children had been drawing paintings and put them on my bedroomdoor to welcome me.

This is the boys picture. He is so cute :)

This morning my hostmum stayed at home with me and showed me the morning routines and what to do, some laundry and then not so much during the day when the children are at camp. She told me to get some rest and settle down, maybe take a walk around the neighborhood. I don't think I'll walk anywhere today, cause I didn't really understood the alarmsystem for the house... But maybe I'll make a try.

Here it comes!

Yes! Finally! A blog about my year in the US :) Thank you Ellinore for helping me!

Well, I left home sunday at about two o clock swedish time, to go to the Hotel near the airport. Mum, my boyfriend; Markus and my sister followed. Monday at nine o clock it was time to go through at the airport and say goodby to everbody. We cried but it felt great for me at the same time! On my way, woohoo! All by myself.. a little bit scary.
The plane from Arlanda took off at 10.30 and landed in Helsingfors 11.30. It wasn´t a long waiting at the airport in Helsingfors, we took off 13.10. Long trip by plane to get to New York but I finally landed at 15.50 local time(-6 from Sweden). Wow, finally I was in the big city, and the excitement was so big. We were taken by bus to Sheraton Hotel in Stamford, and I had a room to share with a german girl and a girl from Austria.

Today was the first real day of the orientationweek. The first meeting started at 8.30 and ended at 12 o clock. Then we had three hours off. We went down to the mall to shop a little bit, fun! Then there was four more hours and a lot of information. But this is really nice, I have allready learnt a lot from this, and it has only been one day.

I got a cute messege from my sister too, she said she misses me allready and that this will be a long year. But it will be a funny year! I am looking forward to thursday when I am travelling on to my hostfamily.
I am not that good in taking pictures but at least the camera is with me, so I will try!
